Giving Kinky Curly Curling Custard Another Shot

You may recall I had a first go with the suite of Kinky Curly products after receiving the shampoo, leave-in and curling custard for my birthday from my sister A. Since then, I can say that the Come Clean shampoo is hands down the best I've used thus far. It's really clarifying but also moisturizing and a little truly goes a long way. No dry hay feeling after washing, it doesn't tangle my hair and my scalp is super clean.

The leave in is also great, although I can't really differentiate between that and some of my other leave-ins of choice which are cheaper. I usually use it as a base for the kimmaytube leave-in, only using it by itself if I am doing a KCCC wash and go.

The curling custard I haven't used since but I will probably finish the container at some point. I did, however, use it on my sister's hair. Brief note, while I am a wild child style wise with my hair, she is more on the conservative side. Like me, she has also been natural all her life and usually if her hair isn't in braids or twists, she is rocking some manner of bun, edges slicked with Giovanni Direct leave in. So the wash and go look on a whole was different for her. And boy did she not like it lol.

I gave her the works using only Kinky Curly products complete with detangling and shingling. Resulted in very defined curls but LOTS of shrinkage. In the end it seemed like more trouble than it's worth and I think it's pretty safe to say you won't see her rocking a wash and go style anytime soon, if ever again lol. My thoughts: I still have to be convinced that this expensive custard gives me better results than using some ecostyler or IC fantasia. In fact, later that day I used ecostyler in place of the curling custard, keeping everything else the same as I had done for my sister, and really, there wasn't that much difference, at least not enough to warrant the price difference.
